Resistance is futile - It's time to surrender
Resistance is futile - it's time to surrender in Faith, Hope ...and
Love. Those of us who are Star Trek fans will instantly identify
with the words "resistance is futile". The scene(s) where the
enterprise encounters the Borg and the crew is fighting to prevent
the Borg from assimilating them into the collective entity. We, as
human beings, created by God, tend to be like that. We struggle to
resist God plan for our lives - wanting to be in control. I believe
that's why we perceive that life is such a struggle at times. The
mere idea of surrendering conjures up thoughts of failure,
captivity, giving up, helplessness and worthlessness. Ultimately,
the feeling of lack of control over our lives. But when we give it
some deeper thought, we would all agree that it's not that way at
all with God. It doesn't have to be that way in the quest for God's
plan for our lives. He is asking us to submit to His will rather
than wanting to do it our way. It's usually our way or no way, isn't
it?
I believe that the realization and more importantly, the
acceptance that we need to surrender to God has profound
implications and benefits for our lives. The Bible tells us that He
is for us and not against us. We need to stop rowing upstream and
trying to go against the tide. We need to go with God's flow. We
need to "Let go and let God". Allow His will to be done in our
lives.
Recently, I heard a pastor saying that we should be more like
locusts. He says that because of its wingspan, locusts can't really
fly. They sense when the gust of wind is coming and position
themselves accordingly to get caught up in the gust and consequently
are propelled for great distances with the wind flow. We too, can
take a lesson from this. Are you sensing the presence of God in and
around you? If so, surrender to His will and be transformed -
propelled by His will. I for one, know it's easier said than done.
But I believe with faith and trust in God, we can do it. Do you
agree or disagree?

Looking for Life in all the wrong places
I've come to a place in my life where I'm beginning to feel a
heightened sense of urgency. I'm sensing that time is running out
and I have not yet found my true purpose in life. Can you relate to
this? I'm looking and searching for that adventure that John
Eldredge talks about in "Wild at Heart". Finding the adventure is
one thing, but actually living the adventure, to me, is what it's
all about. I am convinced more that ever that because of "The vanity
and brevity of life", each of us should not waste any time in finding
and living our purpose in life. To help me in this endeavor, I have
just started reading the book by Rick Warren entitled, "A Purpose
Driven Life - What on Earth am I here for." I believe that it may
provide me with some clues to finding The Path. My sense from
reading the first chapter is that he's saying we need to shift our
focus on self to focusing on God. The Bible actualy tells us, "Seek
first the kingdom and his righteousness..." Rick Warren says that
it's not about us. This brings to mind the words of the hymn that
says, "It's all about you, Jesus." He goes on to say that we were
made by God and for God - and until we understand that, life will
never make sense. So think about your own life - Is it making sense?

Welcome to It's a God thing.
This weblog is based on my personal experiences, thoughts and ideas about living purposefully according to God's plan for my life. I have come to a place in my life where I think that reality is finally setting in. I'm starting to take a look at the bigger picture in my life. It's turning out to be quite the journey. I feel I'm now standing at the crossroads in life (with my compass) trying to point in the right direction, eternally speaking. I have a sense that taking the right path will have eternal, livesaving consequences. I know now that I want to be on that path and am starting to see the compass pointing in that direction. The quest begins....
